*- “The border is no longer a physical place where individuals cross spatial coordinates; it is both a physical and a virtual space in which the categorisation and management of an identity is at the core.” This sounds a naïve interpretation of the ross border movement regimes. In case of visa application that check has been prior to border crossing. Is it not that the lovcus of checking has shifted due to the ease of verification?
*- “Ensuring security is thus increasingly an occupation within and ''beyond ''the state.’ Tis is true, see palantor, or oracle’s efforts. But it is not limited to border control and the security apparatus alone. What could we learn from broadening the horizon, and analyzze these developments in a wider context?
*- What is being discussed here? Sometime the arguments are focues on asylum, or migration, sometimes on border crossing, sometimes on citizenship.
*- Are there any positive impact of the process described in the paper. It says: “The fixity of biometric identities, their lack of ambiguity and binary language have enabled more efficient border checks, faster movement, and, as far as states are concerned, more reliable verification of identities even when crossing through automated border crossings.” These are a few. What do we know about the tradeoff?
